Wellmen re-sign keeper Rushton

Holywell Town have re-signed goalkeeper Jon Rushton from gap Connahs Quay

Rushton who was recalled last month due to an injury to first team goalkeeper John Danby originally joined the Huws Gray Alliance side back in August to play first team football under John Haseldin.

The 26 year-old keeper who signed for the Nomads back in 2011 from Manor Athletic had previously spent time at fellow Welsh Premier League side Newtown back in 2013.

Rushton departs the Nomads on the same day as his brother Nick joined Newtown, meaning that both Jon and Nick have played for the same club for a second time.

Manager John Haseldin spoke of his delight of Jon returning to the club, as well as praising Keighan, who filled in whilst Rushton was away.

“Jon comes back to sure things up at the back, we have leaked far to many goals of late and feel its right time for him to come back he left a big hole when Nomads recalled him back from his loan to replace their injured keeper.

Keighan has come in last min from Caernarfon and has done well considering the difficult circumstances and coming in for such big games but we think the experience will help his development and will look to him to push Jon for rest of the season and to fill the number one position in the future.”

Rushton could return in Holywell’s home fixture against Holyhead Hotspur.
