Guilsfield manager Danny Barton is anticipating a difficult match against a struggling Penrhyncoch on Saturday, but insists all focus is on the league despite a great Welsh Cup win over Welsh Premier League outfit Cardiff Met in their last outing.
Barton is looking forward to returning to league action after their most recent games have fallen foul to the weather, meaning their last match was their 4-2 comfortable win over Cardiff Met in the cup, however he is excited about the return to league action.
“The league is very important to us and we’ve had a couple of games called off recently so we need to get back into league action quickly – it’s can’t come quick enough.”
Undoubtedly one of the biggest shocks of the Welsh Cup weekend was their victory over Met, however Barton demands focus from his side but stresses how they must take confidence from their surprise victory.
“Absolutely yes but although a cliche it’s about ten squad and everyone has a part to play and I want people focussed on the next few league games.”
Nonetheless, the manager is expecting a tough game against Penrhyncoch this Saturday and insists his side must improve their league form to win the game and to complete the season in a positive manner.
“Penrhyn will be tough. They have struggled early on but they have picked up of late. Gari and the guys there will have them fired up and raring to go so we know it’s going to be a battle.”
The league this year is incredibly competitive and we have to improve. I’m really not happy with our start and out form and where we are this season. We’re very inconsistent and that’s not what I want. Technically I have some great players but I’ve questioned our mentality this season.”
Barton has a full strength team to pick from going into the match in what should be an exciting contest.
