The Football Association of Wales have rewarded Division Two attacker Lamin Conteh with the Player of the Round award, following his individual performance against Afan Lido.
Conteh helped his side progress to the next round of the Cup as they saw off higher League opposition Afan Lido, with Gareth Morgan’s men claiming a 5-2 victory over the former Premier League side.
The forward who was signed from Splott Albion three years ago was presented with a glass trophy, as well as £100 worth of JD Sport vouchers, as part of the sponsorship of the competition.
This season, the technically gifted Conteh has scored 15 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions, with STM Sports into the Quarter-Finals of the Welsh Football League Cup.
“I am so pleased for Lamin that he won this award after such a fine all round performance in the last round of the JD Sports Welsh Cup, what a great hat trick and to add to that he scored another three the following Saturday!” said STM Sports boss Gareth Morgan as he expressed his delight in seeing one of his players rewarded.
Morgan joined the club from divisional rivals AFC Porth in the summer as they’ve maintained an unbeaten start in Division Two, with Conteh and his strike partner Curtis Scotto, being prolific in front of goal this season.
“Since I arrived at STM he has been a model member of the team and improves each week (as he has been in his entire time at STM) and quietly goes about his business with his strike partner, Curtis Scotto.”
Conteh and STM Sports will have the opportunity to repeat their Round One feat as they travel to South Wales Alliance side Penydarren BGC on Saturday.
