Barry Town United have completed the signing of prolific goal-scorer Jonathan Hood from Welsh League Division One outfit Port Talbot Town.Hood becomes the second forward to join the Vale of Glamorgan outfit this week, having already secured the services of James Demetriou from Welsh Premier League rivals, Bangor City.
The 26-year-old was the Steelmen’s top scorer last season but joined Icelandic outfit Aegir in April, but made the decision to rejoin the club to bolster their bid to the Welsh Premier League.
This is the second attacking player which has left Victoria Road for pastures new in the JD Welsh Premier League after Luke Bowen joined Carmarthen Town last week.
However, Barry Town United have now secured his services, with Gavin Chesterfield intent of improving his attacking line ahead of phase two of the Welsh Premier League.
Following his experience in Wales’ top slight, it is a really exciting signature for the Barry Town United faithful and he could well be included in the squad this weekend as they host Aberystwyth Town at Jenner Park in their first fixture in phase two.
Hood will add Welsh Premier League experience to their ranks, as well, after making 56 appearances in Wales’ top flight, scoring a total of 17 goals.
In phase one, despite Kayne McLaggon netting on nine occasions. The Vale of Glamorgan outfit failed to score in any of their final three games in Phase ne of the league.
Hood, though, could help them become more clinical going forward and climb the Welsh Premier League table, with the chance of playing in Europe next season still in sight.
