The JD Welsh Premier League’s mid-Wales sides, Aberystwyth Town and Newtown have both added a player to their ranks on the final day of the transfer window. Aber have signed Craig Rogers, whilst the Robins have secured the signature of Ethan Jones.

Rogers, 27, joins 10th placed Aberystwyth from Norweigan side Bergsoy-Idrettslag.

The defender has previously had spells at Warrington Town, Denbigh Town, Dalvak/Reynir in Iceland and Jacksonville United.

Jones links up with Newtown after leaving Northern Premier League Division One South team Halesowen Town.

19-year-old Jones has had experience with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town, signing a professional contract with the latter in 2015.

He had spells out on loan with Tranmere Rovers and Stourbridge, and will now be looking to make a name for himself in the Welsh Premier League.

Speaking to newtownafc.co.uk, Robins manager Chris Hughes said: “We’re delighted to get the Ethan deal done on deadline day, he is quick and powerful and will give us a different option going forward.”

Aberystwyth play away to Barry Town United this Saturday, whilst Newtown travel to Llandudno. Both games kick-off at 16:15.
