Why Cefn Druids’ Alec Mudimu could just be the signing of the season

He arrived at The Rock back in the summer of 2017, but Alec Mudimu should be considered as one of the MVP’s for the league this season.

The Cefn Druids who defied the bookmakers by finishing in the top six, are being propped up by one of their summer signings in Alec Mudimu, in their quest for Europe.

Alec Mudimu who joined the Druids following spells in the English non-League scene with sides like Nantwich and Stalybridge Celtic has adapted to the Welsh top flight like a duck to water.

Defensive midfielder Alec Mudimu has missed just three games in the Welsh Premier League this season and his performances have not gone amiss.

Recently voted into Sgorio’s five-on-form for this season, Mudimu has had Football League interest from Fleetwood Town, where he spent a weeks trial with the Cod Army.

A move to Fleetwood failed to materialise and Druids position in containing their player has been strengthened, having put pen to paper for next season.

With Mudimu looking set to stay in Wrexham for the time being, there is a real possibility that Mudimu could at least be included in a possible Team of the Year, as well as a possibility of being Player of the Year.

The Zimbabwean has scored five goals this season for Huw Griffiths’ side, as well as breaking up play and playing key passes to the Druids attackers.

A recent goal against Cardiff Metropolitan University, as well as securing a memorable win away at Nantporth for Druids, has allowed the midfielder to become a cult-hero in such a short period of time.

He’s yet to pick up an assist but his ability to go from box-to-box has made him one of the best players to watch in the league.
