Former Port Talbot Town manager Paul Evans is set to take over South Wales Alliance League side Baglan Dragons.

Evans stood down from his role as Blues manager back in November. He was later replaced by Cortez Belle, before Mark Pike was appointed permanent manager last week.

The manager took charge of Port Talbot after their relegation from the JD Welsh Premier League due to a licensing failure in 2015/16, when manager Andy Dyer left the club. Evans had previously managed Tata Steel, but accepted the position of first team manager at the Welsh Football League Division One club following their resignation from the Welsh Leagues.

Evans has been largely credited with stabilising the Steelmen since their relegation and despite a series of tough results during his season and a half in charge, the high point was undoubtedly the club’s away day derby victory over local rivals Afan Lido in his maiden season in charge.

Yet the manager stepped down from his role as first-team manager and was replaced by now player-manager Belle. But, after taking the majority of last season out of football, Evans has now taken his next job by accepting the role of first-team manager at Baglan Dragons.

The Dragons finished 11th last season, amassing 34 points from the club’s 30 league games. With 11 wins, Evans will be hoping to use his experience in order to improve the club’s league position for the coming campaign.

Evans will be ably assisted by Carl Clement in his role. Clement played under Evans for Tata Steel for a number of years. The former midfielder was at Tata for over nine seasons, and has experience of the way Evans works, which Baglan will be hoping will allow him to complement the manager next term.
