Druids sign Premier League duo, as well as Belgian midfielder Moutaud

Cefn Druids have signed Jordan Evans and Ryan Kershaw as they prepare for their Europa League clash with Lithuanian side FK Trakai, as well as securing the signature of Virgil Moutaud from Belgian side KAC Betekom.

The pair have been on trial and played in the Ancients’ Europa League warm-up games against Bala Town and The New Saints, whilst Moutaud joins having played in the Belgian regional leagues.

Wrexham-born Jordan Evans joins the Druids having spent two seasons with 2016/2017 Welsh Cup winners Bala Town.

Davies spent his formative years with the youth set-ups at Wrexham and then Fulham. THe midfielder spent time on loan at Football League outfit Oxford, before the 22 year-old returned to his roots and re-joined Dean Keates’ Wrexham.

However, the midfielder left his home town club and linked up with Colin Caton at Bala Town in February 2017. The former Wales Under-21 international made 11 appearances for Bala during his first six months at the club, and scored the equaliser in the JD Welsh Cup Final, as Bala defeated TNS to secure their first ever Welsh Cup.

But, Evans found game time limited last term with the additions of Rob Pearson and Kieran Smith returning to Bala, and has subsequently left to join Cefn Druids as they prepare for their European adventure.

Manager Huw Griffiths was delighted with the signing and told the Druids website that he believes the Ancients’ style of play will be ideal for the youngster to thrive.

“Jordan is a great signing for us – He needs to fall back in love with football and I’m confident he can do that with us. He played a lot for Bala up until Christmas and then they signed Rob Pearson and Kieran Smith, which saw Jordan out of the side. Jordan knows he will have to earn his place in the team, but he’s keen to do that and he came to watch us win the play-off final against Cardiff Met. Our style of player should suit Jordan, who will want to do well for his local club, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Evans will be joined by new team-mate Kershaw, who returns to the Rock after a loan spell at the club in 2015.

Kershaw left The New Saints at the end of that season and signed for Chris Hughes’ Newtown. The attacking midfielder spent two season at the Mid Wales outfit, and featured 59 times for the Robins, and manager Hughes wished the midfielder all the best upon his departure this summer.

Kersh has decided to go elsewhere and we wish him all the best. He has done well for us, and we wish him well in the future.”

The final signing is Moutaud from Belgian side KAC Betekom. The French defensive midfielder spent numerous years in the French youth divisions, but linked up with the Belgian side two seasons ago.

Moutaud turned out for Berrichonne de Châteauroux from 2007-08 until 2009-10, before spending five seasons with the youth side of former Ligue 2 side Bourges 18.

The Frenchman spent the last two campaigns in the Belgian regional leagues, but has now made the switch to Wales with the Druids, and will be hoping to make an immediate impact at his new club in the Europa League home leg tie on the 28th June.
