Aberystwyth Town have completed a deal to bring back experienced left wing-back Steffan Edwards after a previous spell with the Welsh Premier League outfit.

The 28-year-old previously had a spell with the club during the 2010/2011 season, where he went onto making a total of 32 appearances for the Seasiders – he also featured in the two UEFA Europa League first-round playoff matches that season.

During the season he spent at Park Avenue, Edwards went onto score a total of three goals. He has also had a vast amount of experience in playing in the Welsh Premier League before, he has made a total of 175 appearances in Wales’ top flight, scoring nine times.

His other Welsh Premier League experiences have come at Welshpool in 2009, Bala Town between 2011 and 2014, as well as Newtown between 2014 to 2016, but spent last season at Airbus UK Broughton in the Huws Grays Alliance.

Edwards started his career at Gresford Athletic and has also had a spell with current JD Welsh Premier League side Cefn Druids, in 2008. He is also a former under-18 Wales international.

The Green and Blacks will now hope he can make an instant impact at Park Avenue following his move from Airbus UK Broughton and there was high praise from a spokesman at the club after the player signed.

It read: “Steff joins the black and greens with a wealth of Welsh Premier League experience – he’s a Welsh u18 international who started his career with Gresford Athletic, before joining Cefn Druids in 2008.

“Steff has also played in the Welsh Premier League with Welshpool Town (2009), Bala Town (2011-2014) and Newtown (2014-2016) and has made a total of six appearances in the Europa League Qualifying Round.

“In addition to that, he’s scored nine goals in 175 Welsh Premier League appearances, and he spent last season with Airbus UK Broughton FC in the Huws Gray Alliance.”

In other news for Aber, Ashley Young has left the club, joining Northern Premier League side, Buxton. He made his debut on the opening day of last season in a 1-1 draw with Barry Town United and went onto score four goals from midfield.
