Briton Ferry Llansawel make key signings as squad retained

Briton Ferry Llansawel have retained their whole squad of last season, as well as making additions to their squad.

Manager Carl Shaw has managed to secure a majority of his first-team squad, with six new facings also arriving at Old Road.

Cameron Harris, Connah McFenton, Lee Bevan, Luke Sylvester, Gavin Jones and Warren Hudson have all joined Briton Ferry Llansawel for the upcoming season.

Cameron Harris joins from Pontardawe Town, whilst Warren Hudson returns to the club, having spent the season with Welsh Football League cup winners Trefelin Boys & Girls Club.

Defender Luke Sylvester joins the club on loan from Welsh Premier League side Barry Town United. Lee Bevan was named Llanelli Town’s Player of the Year, after captaining the Reds to the Division One title last season.

Connah McFenton, who was involved in a promotion race with Llanelli Town, has been the first-choice keeper of Haverfordwest County now becomes a teammate of Bevan once again.

The 22-year-old is a goalkeeping coach at Cardiff City and has previously played for Llanelli Town and Port Talbot Town. McFenton played a total of 31 times last season in all competitions.

Also arriving at Briton Ferry is Ammanford front-man Gavin Jones who joins having scored 13 goals in Division Two last season, helping the club to promotion.

Midfielder Tom Da Silva is one of the only departures, as he returns to Portugal after two seasons with the Welsh League side. Da Silva was part of the Briton Ferry side which won promotion back to Division One in the 2016/2017 season.

A number of the new faces will be on show in tomorrow’s friendly against Evo-Stik South League side Merthyr Town. The Martyrs lost 3-2 to Cambrian & Clydach Vale on Tuesday evening.
