This week it’s the return of the Huws Gray Alliance Cup, with the big tie of the weekend at Denbigh as they face league leaders Airbus.
Last time out Holyhead beat holders Flint, who welcome Ruthin this Saturday to The New Oval.
Denbigh vs Airbus
After Denbigh’s heavy defeat to Porthmadog they will be looking for a big reaction when they play Airbus. In the last round Denbigh beat Rhyl 2-1 whilst the leaders beat Holywell 4-0.
Airbus have a 100% record in the league this term and will be hoping for more of the same this weekend in the cup.
Holyhead vs Ruthin
In the last round, Holyhead caused the shock of the round beating holders Flint Town United 2-1. It’s been a difficult start to the season for Holyhead, and they will undoubtedly be targeting a cup run to build momentum in an attempt to regain league form.
Ruthin come into this round having beaten Guilsfield in a thriller, winning 3-2.
Porthmadog vs Conwy Borough
Both teams come into this game currently sitting in the top six in the league. Port beat Buckley 3-0 in the last round. At the start of season Porthmadog boss Craig Papirnyk outlined that he was targeting the HGA Cup as a priority.
However, they face a tough test. Borough beat Llanrhaeadr 3-0 in the last round, but Gareth Thomas’ side face a difficult game this weekend as they travel to Y Traeth.
Prestatyn vs Bangor
Prestatyn came through Penrhyncoch in the last round beating the Mid-Wales side 4-0, and despite early season struggles, will be hoping to continue and advance into the next round.
Bangor beat Gresford in 5-3 thriller in the last round; a second half performance by the Citizens secured their place in this round, and despite some struggles, have started the season in good form. The fans will be hoping for a cup run this term.
