STM goalscorer Graham praises level of performance in rout of Llwydcoed
STM Sports AFC’s Josh Graham believes that Saturday’s win over Llwydcoed was a “good performance” in wet and windy conditions at the Cardiff University Fields.
Graham opened the scoring mid way through the first half after scoring from the penalty spot.
Goals from Ben Ah-Mun, Dale Gardiner, Marcus Jones and Andy Gardiner helped seal a 5-0 win and move the Llanrumney outfit into 5th place in the table.
“It was a good performance, we started a little bit slow,” he said, “as soon as the first goal went in and the red card we just kind of kicked on from there. We were always going to get the three points.”
“When we are at home we are always going to create loads of chances. One of them eventually will go in and when it went in like I said the red card for them, it was never in doubt we were going on to score a few more.”
After coming close twice to open the scoring Graham was glad to get himself on the score sheet.
“You get frustrated when other people around you are scoring, it is always good to add to your tally and get onto the score sheet.”
He also praised his teammates for the way they conducted themselves in terrible conditions to get their goals, and he picked out player manager Dale Gardiner who scored the pick of the goals with a well taken finish on the stroke of half time.
“It’s always great for the other boys to get on the score sheet, Ben as you know is our top goalscorer, he’s flying and it’s always good for a sub to come on and get onto to the score sheet.”
It was a very good team goal I didn’t touch it but I was involved but it was a very good team goal. Good finish from the gaffer.
Dale’s a class act always helping us always giving us information on board, can play himself as you can see scored a great goal.
After scoring five goals in three games, Marcus Jones seems to have settled into life with STM and Josh was full of praise for his teammate.
“He’s a good mate of mine, Marcus I had influence in getting him to the club. He’s a class player. I think he’ll continue to score goals most games.”
After only playing eleven games in the leagues this season because of cup competitions, STM are back in action on Saturday as they entertain Swansea University at home.
Graham insists the club are taking it one game at a time.
“We just take every game as it comes now it’s a big one next week that we’ve been waiting for and hopefully it’s another three points next week.”
“We’ve had a lot of cup games we’ve quite far behind in the league appearances. A couple of home games now, get the points on board, and I think we can kick on and win the league.”
“We’ve got another two home games now I think before our away game, hopefully, we can get maximum points and all have a good Christmas.”
