Grange Albion 1-4 Penydarren BGC: Visitors progress in FAW Trophy

Braces from Joshua Brogden and Asa Lloyd sealed a place for Penydarren BGC in the Quarter Finals of the FAW Trophy.

It was the Visitors who dominated the early proceedings and set the tone for the 5th Round tie in the FAW Trophy.

In the 12th minute, Kerry Mullins’ side opened the scoring after a tremendous team move which was rounded off by a calm composed finish from midfielder Asa Lloyd who beat Grange Albion goalkeeper Nathan Alderman at the near post.

Penydarren took their one goal lead going into the interval but knew another strong second half performance was needed to seal their place in the Quarter Final of the FAW Trophy.

The hosts found an equaliser just thirteen minutes into the second period as substitute Nile White got on the end of a corner which trickled past Penydarren BGC goalkeeper Stephen Price into the bottom corner.

The goal provided Grange Albion a morale boost as they were determined to cement their place in the Quarter Final for the second consecutive time. 

A goal from Penydarren BGC Striker Joshua Brogden in the 63rd minute sparked a frantic few minutes as the visitors re-took the lead. Another great goal from Kerry Mullins’ side as Brogden guided his header into the far corner past Grange goalkeeper Alderman as he got on the end of a brilliant delivery from Asa Lloyd.

Just Minutes later Penydarren extended their lead through Brogden again who rose highest in the box to guide his header across the advancing Alderman after a fantastic delivery this time from Alex Long.

Just 20 minutes from the end Asa Lloyd got his second and Penydarren’s fourth of the game as he finished past the advancing Alderman after he spilled a free-kick from Penydarren BGC striker Christopher Colvin-Owen.

It proved to be another comfortable afternoon for the The Bont Playing Fields side as they progress into the Quarter Finals of the FAW Trophy for a second consecutive time.
