Connah’s Quay Nomads and The New Saints to contest this season’s Welsh Cup final
Connah’s Quay Nomads and The New Saints will contest the 131st JD Welsh Cup final after both teams claimed victory over the weekend.
It is the first-ever meeting between the two will contest a major Cup final in Wales.
The pair are also involved in a title race in the JD Welsh Premier League. A victory for The New Saints on Wednesday over Bala Town would put Scott Ruscoe’s side four points clear of nearest placed Nomads.
Their semi-final wins now mean that both sides have qualified for the Europa League. Barry Town United can also automatically qualify for Europe should they better Newtown’s result this weekend.
Greg Draper and Jamie Mullan scored in the second half to book The New Saints into their first final in two years as they look to avenge their last Cup final defeat to Bala Town.
Cup holders Connah’s Quay had Callum Morris, John Disney and Michael Bakare to thank as their goals helped them progress to the final as they dominated against Cardiff Metropolitan.
