Airbus UK Broughton’s promotion to Premier League confirmed

Airbus UK Broughton’s promotion to the JD Welsh Premier League has been confirmed after passing the Tier One Licence.

The Wingmakers had already won the Cymru Alliance title but have now had their promotion confirmed due to the Tier One Licencing decisions today.

They will be joined by Penybont, should they win the Welsh Football League Division One title. Penybont have a 12-point gap with eight games remaining.

Haverfordwest County have also seen their application accepted but will have to make up a 16-point gap if they are to catch up with Penybont.

Flint Town United and Rhyl have obtained the licence but will not be promoted this season.

It means that should Haverfordwest County or Penybont win the Division One title or finish in the top two, then both Llanelli Town and Llandudno will be relegated.

Only Llanelli Town saw their Tier 1 Licence application rejected. They will be relegated from the Welsh Premier League tomorrow if they fail to win against Aberystwyth Town at Park Avenue. They along with Llandudno could also be relegated should Carmarthen beat Llandudno at Richmond Park on Saturday.

Bangor City, Briton Ferry Llansawel, Buckley Town, Cambrian & Clydach Vale, Holywell Town, Porthmadog and Prestatyn all withdrew their applications.

Caernarfon Town have obtained the Tier 1 Licence but will need to obtain the UEFA Licence if they are to compete in the UEFA Europa League play-offs next month.
