An Eliot Scotcher stoppage-time penalty for Haverfordwest County put a slight dent into Penybont’s title push.

Scotcher’s penalty cancelled out Cullen Kinsella’s 43rd-minute effort in the first half to secure a point for a battling Bluebirds side.

Haverfordwest County are unable to catch league leaders Penybont after this evening’s draw but have moved into the top three, two points off of second-placed Cambrian & Clydach Vale. Only Cambrian & Clydach Vale and Cwmamman United can catch up to Penybont.

Penybont had a good opportunity to score. Owain Warlow danced past Ricky Watts and crossed into Luke Borrelli but the forward put over from close range.

Another chance fell for Penybont as Kane Owen drilled an effort just past the post.

Haverfordwest County though were having more of the ball but couldn’t make any clear cut chances.

Penybont almost took the lead on the counter-attack. Cullen Kinsella’s curling effort whistled just wide.

Just over the half-hour mark, Ben Fawcett had a golden chance from a Jack Wilson cross but it went over Wilson’s bar.

Against the run of play, Penybont opened the scoring. Cullen Kinsella exploited the space and slid it past Stephen Hall for the opener.

Haverfordwest almost drew level on the hour mark when Tom Dyson’s attempted cross almost sailed straight in but for a tip from Rhys Wilson.

Forward Luke Borrelli almost doubled Penybont’s lead as he drilled a left-footed shot towards the corner of the goal but Hall dived down to block.

The introduction of Kostya Georgievsky injected some much-needed pace into Penybont. He made an instant impact as he passed to Curtis Hutson who forced a good save out of Hall.

In the last quarter of the game, Haverfordwest’s defence were forced into action. Firstly Tim Hicks denied Luke Borrelli with a goalline block after Borelli rounded Hall. Hall moments later then made a block with his body after Borelli burst through from another opportunity.

Dyson who was presented with a number of chances almost brought the score level. Elliot Thomas fell to Dyson on the far side and he skewed his effort just wide.

Late on Kostya Georgievsky thumped a low effort towards goal but Hall kept the scoreline to a goal advantage.

The Bluebirds had a golden opportunity late on to equalise. Former Haverfordwest defender Sam Rodon was penalised for a slight foul on Ben Fawcett. Midfielder Elliot Scotcher successfully converted the spot kick for the equaliser.
