Haverfordwest County make statement with six major signings
Haverfordwest County have put the FAW Championship South on red alert after making six ew signings.
Wayne Jones has been busy in the transfer market and now six players with experience in playing the Division have rocked up at The Bridge Meadow.
Kurtis Rees, Marcus Griffiths, Miles John, Scott Tancock, Sam Rodon and Tyler Brock have all committed to the club.
Commenting on the signings, “I’ve got to give the board credit,” said Bluebirds boss Wayne Jones.
Tyler Brock joins from fellow Championship side Briton Ferry Llansawel, having previously been on the books of Carmarthen Town and Pontardawe.
Brock’s former Pontardawe Town teammate Kurtis Rees has joined his in West Wales, having left the Swansea Valley club. A youth academy product of Pontardawe, Rees previously played for Cwmamman United and is a former Swansea City youngster. He is a former teammate of ex-Haverfordwest youngster Danny Williams.
Marcus Griffiths and Sam Rodon, two members of Penybont’s 2018/19 unbeatables squad have opted to play in the second tier. Griffiths who was Penybont’s top scorer in the previous three seasons. He was a two-time promotion winner with Merthyr Town.
Haverfordwest have also been able to attract Scott Tancock, who was playing in the Welsh Premier League last season with Llanelli Town. Tancock has 100 games with Merthyr Town under his belt and was a former professional at Swansea City. The 25-year-old has Football League experience with Newport County, as well as representing his country six times at Under-21s level.
Completing the additions is Miles John, who joins having played the last number of years in the English pyramid system. John, who can play as either a central midfielder or a full-back is a former scholar with Bristol City and represented Wales at youth level. Last season he was at Mangotsfield United, having moved on from Merthyr Town.
John also has experience in playing in New Zealand, winning the title with Napier City Rovers. He was also part of the University of South Wales side which won the BUCS Premier South and National title.
Jake Booth, who was part of the Haverfordwest County development side last season, having played for Pembrokeshire League side Neyland has also been invited to join up with the first-team for pre-season.
The Bluebirds are celebrating their 120th anniversary as a club this season.
