Following his short but successful loan spell at Connah’s Quay Nomads, Adam Barton has signed for Wrexham AFC, becoming the fifth player this summer to do so.
The 28-year-old, originally from Clitheroe, England, has penned a two-year deal at The Racecourse Ground after bringing to an end to his stay at Dundee United.
Barton played for the likes of Coventry City, Preston North End and Portsmouth during his eight-year stay in English football, before undergoing three years in Scotland, where he played for Partick Thistle and Dundee United.
Barton has played alongside the likes of Neil Mellor, former Cardiff City forward Gary Madine and England internationals, Callum Wilson and James Maddison, during his glittering career.
“I’m delighted to get the move all done and dusted,” Barton told leaderlive.co.uk, after signing for Wales’ third oldest club. “I’m really happy to be here at Wrexham.
“I like to get on the ball and start moves off, passing the ball, sitting-in in front of the back four. It’s up to me to get in the squad now and keep my place when the season starts.
“I have been speaking to [Wrexham manager] Bryan Hughes for a while about the move, he really wanted me to come and I really wanted to be here, so it’s great to get it done.
“Bryan said that sitting in midfield is where he sees me playing my football here, where my best position is, so that’s what I’ll do for the team if and when I get a chance.”
