UEFA confirm European money for 2019/20 season

The Welsh Premier League is currently set to receive £862,000 in European money. 

UEFA have confirmed this year’s solidarity payments and according to Football-Coefficient.EU, Wales is set to receive €960.000,00. 

This ranks them as 32nd in money from UEFA by countries. Northern Ireland are currently set to receive the most, with €1.700.000,00 coming into the NIFL Premiership.

The New Saints

Welsh Premier League champions The New Saints have already earned £251,570 for qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

However, on Tuesday, The New Saints surrendered a two-goal lead to Kosovar champions KF Feronikeli. As it stands, TNS would be going out on away goals. 

If they can earn a victory in Kosovo then they would earn a further £341,416 if they were to face Copenhagen. 

If they were to shock Copenhagen, should they progress past Feronikeli then TNS would also earn £431,400 for Round Three. 

Should a disaster happen and Scott Ruscoe’s side are knocked out by one of the lowest ranked sides in Europe, then they would still receive £233,595, as they would drop into Round Two of qualifying in the Europa League. 

They would play either Slovan Bratislava or FK Sutjeska Nikšić, with that tie evenly poised at 1-1. Should they progress and repeat their feats of last season, coupled with their Round One money and defeat either the Slovakian or Serbian champions, they would receive £251,000. 

Last year The New Saints earned £970,165 for their performance in Europe. 

Connah’s Quay Nomads

Andy Morrison’s side have it all to do after suffering a late defeat to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock on Thursday evening.

Having received a bye, following Chelsea’s Europa League win last season, Connah’s Quay are at least guaranteed a windfall £215,628. 

If they can shock Angelo Alessio’s side and overturn a 2-1 deficit, including two away goals, then they could earn a further £233,591. 

There is no change to what the Nomads will likely receive after they earned €240.000 last year, for their defeat to FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk. 

Barry Town United

After a 16-year exile from European football, Barry Town United were eliminated in the preliminary round of the Europa League.

Cliftonville, a serial European side thrashed them 4-0 at Solitude, following a goalless first leg at Leckwith.

It wasn’t all that bad for Barry though, they receive £197,675 for competing in the preliminary rounds.

Cardiff Metropolitan

Despite winning the second leg, the Archers were cruelly knocked out on the virtue of away goals as Mayron de Almeida broke Met hearts.

Their opponents Progrès Niederkorn later beat Cork City at Cork’s Turners Cross home, highlighting the magnitude of Met’s win last week.

Met like Barry, will receive £197,675 for competing in the preliminary round of the UEFA Europa League.
