Charlton Athletic sign Welsh midfield duo Griffiths and Williams
Charlton Athletic have signed Welsh duo Alice Griffiths and Jonny Williams.
Griffiths and Williams join the Ladies and Men’s sides of the Addicks.
Williams continues his time at the club, having been on loan there, linking up with fellow Wales international Tom Lockyer.
Alice Griffiths makes a dream move from Cardiff Met and links up like Williams with another Welsh teammate in Ellie Leek.
“I’m over the moon to be back with this group of lads, the manager, and the staff,” said Williams to Charlton’s official website after returning to The Valley.
“I feel at home here, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m really excited about playing for this team in the Championship.”
Griffiths joins having spent her years of development in the Welsh Premier Women’s League.
She was a treble winner at Cardiff Metropolitan.
The 18-year-old has two senior competitive caps to her name, making her international debut in 2017.
Addicks boss Riteesh Mashra hailed their recent signing:
“Alice has moved over here and I’m excited to work with her. She has a great attitude, really driven and has already pleased me in training.”
Charlton’s newest Welsh recruit said: “Charlton were very successful last season and Riteesh [Mishra] has given me the opportunity to show myself so I’ve been given a great opportunity and hopefully I can take it.”
