Bangor City’s Nathaniel MG Cup first round tie against Conwy Borough, scheduled to be played this Saturday (August 3), has been postponed until further notice.

It comes as the Citizens await the outcome of an independent arbitration hearing, following their deduction of 21 points from last season’s tally in the Cymru Alliance.

The club were initially deducted 42 points – a figure which would have seen them relegated from the second tier – however, on appeal, the number was halved and they maintained their place in the now-Cymru North.

Following this, the Nantporth side announced that they would appeal the 21-point deduction, taking their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in an effort to “clear the name of the club”.

A statement on the Cymru Premier website read: “The Nathaniel MG Cup First Round match between Conwy Borough and Bangor City has been postponed until further notice pending the outcome of the independent arbitration hearing between Bangor City Football Club and the Football Association of Wales.”

The club themselves stated that “Mr. Andrew Howard, from the FAW, said that this is due to the Arbitration hearing between the club and the Football Association of Wales not being concluded this week.”

The former top-flight champions were knocked out of the competition at the first round stage last season, losing 1-0 at home to north Walian rivals Llandudno.

A date for the rearranged tie to take place will be announced in due course.
