Cardiff Draconians: Dracs make ground improvements as they seek Welsh League ambitions

Cardiff Draconians have unveiled their brand new stand for the upcoming season due to the committee finding funds on how to build and expand the club for the future.

It might be a small stand at the moment but

this is a sign of things to come as the fencing around the sides of the pitch help block the ball around from throw-ins along with making it safer for the fans around the ground.

The upcoming season for Cardiff Draconians in the alliance league is coming up and the signs of improvement are showing with the update of the ground they play at.

Manager of the Dracs is Layton Maxwell, an ex-professional footballer who was previously on the books of Cardiff City, Liverpool, and Swansea City. Under his stewardship, the Dracs have gone from Division Two into the Premier Division. The hope this season is they’ll go one further following a third-placed finish, to their W John Owen Cup win last season.

On his side, he will have Darren Buttle who has management experience in the Welsh League with clubs such as Cardiff Corries and Taffs Well which will be key to help the Dracs with their promotion push.

Phil Booker who is a hugely enthusiastic coach who holds an UEFA B License and is hoping to progress further up the ranks.

New signings for the Dracs include Bridgend Street duo Nicky Davidson and Richard Noyes.

Moving from League and City rivals Canton Liberal, Kieran Cotterill has also joined the Dracs.

Darren Bennett who has missed the last seasons with injury has returned to action too. He has over 250 appearances in the Welsh league 1 with Taffs Well and Cardiff Corries.

They opened their new stand against Cymru South side Llanelli Town last weekend, but their first competitive game at their home will be against former Welsh League side Ely Rangers, next Saturday.
