New Saints: Corinthians equal TNS’ world record of consecutive wins

The New Saints have seen their world record longest winning streak in top-flight football equalled by Corinthians.

Corinthians’ Women’s side claimed their 27th victory and can eclipse TNS’ record with victory over Sao Jose on Wednesday.

They are the first women’s professional side to equal the world record.

TNS broke Ajax’s 44-year-record by winning 27 games in a row in 2016, entering the Guinness World Records.

Their record run of victories was ended by Newtown, following a 3-3 draw in January 2017.

Moving on to recent seasons, The New Saints haven’t tasted defeat in Welsh competitions in over 23 games, with their last defeat being a semi-final loss to Cymru South side Cambrian & Clydach Vale.

In European competitions, they lost to Copenhagen and Ludogorets in the Champions League and the Europa League, respectively.
