Wales captain Ashley Williams has been left out of the squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifier against Azerbaijan.

Williams, who has been capped 86 times for Wales, captained the Red Dragons to the Euro 2016 semi-finals.

34-year-old Williams is clubless, having been released by Everton. He has been linked with a move to Sky Bet Championship side Bristol City.

Swansea City defender Joe Rodon has been included, alongside Kiefer Moore, who joined Wigan Athletic this summer. Midfielder Joe Morrell is also in the squad, having joined Lincoln City on loan in the summer.

Aaron Ramsey has been included, despite only making his debut for Juventus last week, following a summer of recovery.

Ramsey has yet to make an appearance in the European Championship qualifiers.

Gareth Bale was the captain of Wales, in the absence of Ashley Williams in the Euro 2020 qualifier with Croatia.

Wales are currently second from bottom, having won once in their opening three games.

They also have a home friendly against Belarus.
