Mid Wales League: Hay St Mary’s withdraw from League

Hay St Mary’s have withdrawn from the Mid Wales League, it has been confirmed by the League.

A statement was released on the Mid Wales League’s official website: “It is with regret that we have to report the withdrawal of Hay St Mary’s again from the MMP Mid Wales League.

“This is, unfortunately, the second occasion this has happened in just a few years.

“Once again, a very sad day for the club.”

Former player Liam McAnally tweeted: “I’m gutted that @HayStMarysFC have had to drop out of the league.”

The Hay-on-Wye based club had played seven league games, picking up seven points out of a possible 28.

Gareth Jenkins stood down his role as manager in August after helping them to two promotions. He was later replaced by Colin Preece, who worked alongside him as assistant.

They were promoted to Division One last season after finishing third.

Division One of the Mid Wales League will now be contested with 15 teams.
