Madison Schupbach scored twice as Cardiff Metropolitan registered their first league win of the season against Cyncoed Ladies.

Schupbach scored twice in seven minutes to give the Archers victory against a sturdy Cyncoed defence.

Cardiff Met dominated most of the game, creating a plethora of chances, but were made to wait until the second half for a breakthrough.

Cyncoed fail to threaten Met goalkeeper Estelle Randall but opposite goalkeeper Poppy Soper made a string of fine saves.

Fern Burrage’s side remain joint bottom whilst Cardiff Met move into the top half.

Chloe Tiley sent an early warning sign to Cyncoed as her cross-hit shot almost sailed into the net.

Madison Scupbach attempted from range but her sweeping shot was palmed away by Poppy Soper.

Ffion Llewellyn saw her well-struck free-kick clatter against the crossbar before Kitty Wells hit a rebounded header at Soper.

Soper was inspired form and twice denied Robyn Pinder, who was denied from close range.

The Mighty Oaks keeper made a terrific save to deny Kitty Wells after Robyn Pinder unselfishly squared the ball to the Met attacker.

Cyncoed were able to go in level at the break, having weathered the Met storm.

Madison Schupbach broke the deadlock six minutes into the second half as her trickling shot beat the Cyncoed goalkeeper after Lucy Finch’s through ball.

Alison Witts provided a rare chance for Cyncoed as her half-volley was blazed over the bar.

Schupbach scored her second seven minutes from her first. Robyn Pinder threaded the ball to the feet of the American who tucked her shot past Soper.

A determined Soper kept the deficit to two as she superbly denied Robyn Pinder from yards-out after Schupbach laid the ball off to her following her own effort.

Pinder was twice denied by Soper in a similar fashion as Schupbach again found her in a good area but the Cyncoed goalkeeper continued to impress.

Cyncoed failed to add a consolation goal in the final quarter of the game as Met comfortably saw out the victory against Cyncoed.
