The Football Association of Wales Trust has identified Dr David Adams as the successor to Osian Roberts as technical director.
Osian Roberts stood down from the role in August 2019, taking up a similar position with the Moroccan FA. Roberts also worked alongside three Wales managers as assistant manager.
Adams had worked closely this year with the Wales C squad in March, alongside Mark Jones and Owain Tudor-Jones.
He was also the first-team coach at Port Talbot Town, during Scott Young’s brief spell at Victoria Road.
The ex-head of Academy Coaching at Swansea oversaw the development of Wales internationals Connor Roberts, Dan James and Joe Rodon.
He signed a two-year consultancy agreement with the academy of Cymru Premier outfit the Connah’s Quay Nomads.
FAW Trust chief executive Neil Ward said: “I am pleased to have secured a person of David’s calibre as our technical director and look forward with confidence to him building on and expanding the success of our world-class coach education and player development programmes designed by his predecessor, Osian Roberts.
“He will also play an instrumental role in improving the player pathway and supporting the development of grassroots football.”
