Steve Morison: Former Wales forward retires

Former Wales striker Steve Morrison has announced his retirement.

Morison leaves Shrewsbury Town and takes up a coaching role with Northampton Town.

The 36-year-old made a total of 20 appearances, scoring once against Montenegro.

“I’ve spent an amazing two decades as a professional footballer and have so many wonderful memories, but I feel the time is right to move on to the next stage of my career – and I couldn’t be more excited,” said the 36-year-old to ShrewsburyTown.com

“I learned so much while playing for my country and some great clubs, alongside and under so many fantastic players and managers, that I can’t wait to put it all into practice as a manager and coach in my own right.

Morison made a total of 655 appearances in his career scoring 248 goals.

He twice won the FAW Trophy with Stevenage and was twice a League One play-off winner with Millwall.
