Sion Eifion-Jones: Porthmadog manager leaves role
Sion Eifion-Jones has stood down from his role as manager of Porthmadog.
Eifion-Jones leaves the Cymru North side by mutual consent.
He had been at the club for four years and had taken over from Craig Papirnyk in the summer after stepping up from coach of the reserve squad.
“It is with a heavy heart that I have agreed to leave Porthmadog FC with immediate effect, said Jones.
“The position we are in at the moment is unacceptable for a club of Port’s stature and I take full responsibility.
“I’ve had four great years at the club and met some fantastic people along the way.
“The club will forever hold a special place in my heart and I really do hope that the club can get back to winning ways sooner rather than later.”
A club spokesman said: “We had high hopes for the future but the reality is that we are in the relegation zone and with it brings pressure on everybody, the manager, board, volunteers, supporters and players. We are sorry to lose Sion and we wish him well for the future.”
Porthmadog went on to defeat Colwyn Bay 2-1 in their first game after Eifion-Jones’ reign.
They currently sit 15th in the Cymru North and occupy one of the relegation spots to the Feeder Leagues.
