Bangor City have signed former Barnsley midfielder Hugo Colace.

Colace – a centre-midfielder by trade – had recently been playing for Gibraltar Premier Division side Mons Calpe SC where he made seven appearances, scoring one goal.

Since leaving Barnsley in 2011, Colace has played for clubs such as Mexican side Tecos and a brief spell with French outfit Auxerre.

He played a total of 101 times for Barnsley, scoring eight goals.

The 35-year-old was a former teammate of Carlos Tevez, Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Colace is the first of two incomings to Nantporth following the departure of three players.

Also joining Bangor City is forward Alex Boss.

Boss returns to Nantporth after leaving the Gwynedd club in the summer for a spell at Aberystwyth Town.

The 21-year-old made 17 appearances for Aberystwyth this season.

Aldair Neto, Lennie Armstrong and Yalany Baio all departed the Cymru North club in December 2019.
