Bala Town: French winger Malandjou and Shannon joins Lakesiders

Bala Town have signed Louis-Augustin Malandjou Kondjo and Oliver Shannon.

Malandjou-Kondjo had been training with Bala since September before earning a contract with Bala whilst Shannon joins after a pre-season spell with Chorley.

Frenchman Malandjou-Kondjo was on the lookout for a new club after leaving Portuguese outfit AD Sanjoanense.

“Louis has been training with us since September and we have been impressed with his attitude and ability in training,” said manager Colin Caton to BalaTownFC.co.uk.

“He is based in Wrexham and has signed until the end of the season to see if he can break into the first team.”

Malandjou Kondjo is a former Nottingham Forest youth player having represented their U18 and U21 sides.

After leaving Forest, he had spells in Cyprus with Anagennisi Derynias and Akritas Chlorakas before moving to Portugal to play for Salgueiros and AD Sanjoanense.

Joining the Kondjo at Maes Tegid is midfielder Oliver Shannon.

Oliver Shannon, 24, joins after playing his football in the United States.

The former Everton youngster won the 2013/14 Youth Premier League title but was moved on from the Toffees.

He moved to the States joining Clemson University in South Carolina where he was captain for three of his four years, scoring 13 goals in 82 appearances.

Shannon moved to Major League Soccer outfit Atlanta United in February 2018 after being drafted and made 27 appearances for their reserve side.

“Ollie is a talented player who will add strength and depth to our midfield,” said Caton who spoke to balatownfc.co.uk

“I tried to sign him in the summer but he chose to go a different direction with his work career and is now available to play regularly, knuckle down and fight for a place. He will add to our midfield options.”

The pair could make their debuts against Cardiff Metropolitan at Cyncoed Campus on January 11.

Llanrhaeadr had also announced goalkeeper Harri Lloyd had joined Bala, however, the Cymru Premier club have yet to announce the signing.

Lloyd temporarily replaces Ashley Morris who joined Penybont on loan.
