Danny Gosset: Bala star aims for playing return after complete remission

Bala Town midfielder Daniel Gosset has announced that his chemotherapy has been successful in his recovery from non-Hodgkin Lyphoma.

Daniel Gosset confirmed has been given the ‘all clear’’ from his blood cancer-Hodgkin Lymphoma on social media on Tuesday.

It was revealed in a statement by Bala Town in September 2019 that the 25-year-old was diagnosed with the blood cancer.

Daniel has shown his willingness to return to football following the incident which has sidelined him this season.

“I’ve had the best news ever, I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch doing what I love the most,” said Gosset.

‘’I’m being realistic so there’s still a lot of work to do with the rehab process and recovery so we’ll take each day as it comes.

“I’ll be doing my best to get back as quick as possible.”

The Welsh footballing community came together for Gossett, with numerous clubs raising funds for the Bangor-born midfielder during his recovery.

Bala Town – Gosset’s club side – were one of the leading clubs with a number of fundraising attempts.

A friend and business associate, Andrew Cook set up a JustGiving crowdfunding which raised £7.4k.

‘’I’m so grateful for all the support they (Bala Town) have given me, it’s been amazing and certainly given me a huge boost during the treatment.’’

“I hope I can repay them in the future when I’m back on the pitch playing my best football again.’”

The former Bangor City midfielder has set a target for the next year, where he envisages playing at the top of the Cymru Premier, challenging for a European spot.

“In a year’s time, I want to be back fit and healthy, enjoying life and playing football at the top of the Cymru Premier, looking to win the league and qualify for Europe.”

Another target for Gossett is his aim to represent Wales C once more after playing for Mark Jones’ side in the 3-2 defeat to England at Barry Town United’s Jenner Park in March 2018.

“It was an honour to represent my country and such a fantastic experience. It’s something I’ll be working towards when I get back playing.”

The ex-Oldham Athletic midfielder has also recently taken to Instagram to show his plant-based diet.

On the matter of changing his lifestyle through the form of a new diet, the former Rhyl midfielder said: “I personally think it’s helped a lot for many reasons.

“I’ve been recovering well in between treatment and been able to keep strong in the gym throughout.’’

‘’I feel good at the moment, I’ll certainly keep doing what I’m doing diet wise and see how I’m feeling once I get back into full training and playing football.”
