David Brooks: Giggs hoping for Brooks to get back to his best

Wales boss Ryan Giggs is hopeful that David Brooks can replicate his previous form after making a return from injury.

Wales’ 2019 Player of the Year, Brooks is yet to make an appearance this season, having suffered ligament damage last July, needing a further operation in December.

Ryan Giggs was full of praise for Brooks, who was restricted to just three appearances in qualifying.

“He’s a talent. He’s one of the most exciting players I’ve seen for a long time and unfortunately he’s been out of action.

“He was player of the year for us last year and he’s just a player who can make a difference,” Giggs said.

The Wales manager hopes Brooks can gain fitness through making appearances for Bournemouth in the coming months.

“Brooksy’s ideal scenario would be if he gets a big chunk of games from now until the end of the season and he comes into the tournament fresh.

“Of course he’s been out for a long time so a lot of things need to happen for him.

“I’ve got my fingers crossed that everything does go well for him and he comes back fit and we see the David Brooks, who we’ve seen a year ago.”

Brooks impressed in his first season in the Premier League, scoring seven goals and if fit, would be a huge boost to Ryan Giggs going into Euro 2020.
