Cardiff Metropolitan University v Bala Town at Cyncoed Campus in the JD Cymru Premier on the 11th January 2020. Lewis Mitchell/YCPD.

Bala Town have denied social media reports of apparently temporarily laying off all of their coaching and playing staff amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Football in Wales is currently suspended until April 30, leaving football clubs unable to generate any streams of income.

Social media reports today claimed Bala had let their coaching and playing staff.

A statement from the Gwynedd club said: “Contrary to what is being reported on social media, Bala Town Football Club would like to state that the Club have decided to follow the Covid 19 Governmental Guidelines and all players and staff have been informed that they will be furloughed during the course of this pandemic due to the complete cessation of all football activity in Wales.

“The Club are intending to register with the HMRC online portal for Covid 19 as soon as it is practical to do so.

“Nobody on the payroll has been laid off and no contracts have been terminated. All contracts will be honoured in full as always.

“It will be business as usual as soon as all footballing restrictions are lifted under the Covid 19 Governmental guidelines and by the FAW.”
