Ian Traylor: Merthyr Town forward moves to Penybont

Penybont have announced the signing of Merthyr Town forward Ian Traylor. 

The 31-year-old moves on from Merthyr after scoring almost 200 goals for the club.

A short announcement on Penybont’s club’s official feed said: “We are pleased to announce we have agreed terms with Ian Traylor, who will join us for the new season.

“Our manager Rhys Griffiths is delighted and can’t wait to start working with Ian Traylor.

Upon his departure from Penydarren Park, manager Gavin Williams said to Merthyr Town: “I’m absolutely gutted to lose a player of his quality. He is a natural goal scorer and a fantastic player.

“He will go down as one of the best players in the clubs’ history and I would like to thank him for everything he has done for the football club.”

A departure from Penybont is Daniel Griffiths, who saw his loan from Cardiff City expire following the conclusion of the season.

Commenting on his departure, the Wales U19 international said: “I would like to thank everyone at Penybont for this season. 

“To stay up was a massive achievement for the club and I have enjoyed my experience being out on loan.

“I wish the club the very best for the future.”
