Jamie Breese: Caernarfon forward returns to Newtown

Jamie Breese has returned to Newtown after announcing his departure from Caernarfon Town. 

He returns to the club where he started his JD Cymru Premier career, having spent four years at Latham Park. 

Announcing his departure earlier in the day, the 28-year-old thanked Caernarfon Town and their supporters in an emotional farewell on social media.

The forward spent five years with the Canaries after joining from Llanidloes Town but will now depart for pastures new in a move closer to home.

Breese moves on from The Oval after winning the Cymru Alliance title twice whilst offering two seasons of top-flight football.

He leaves the Oval having scored more than 85 goals for the Gwynedd club, averaging more than a goal a game.

Breese was making the commitment of travelling to the Cymru Premier club each week but it finally ‘took its toll’.

“I’ll be leaving Caernarfon after an unbelievable five years at the club,” announced Breese on Twitter.

“The decision hasn’t been easy by all means. The place has become like a second home to me and walking away from such a special place is very tough.

“With everything that has happened in the last few months, it wasn’t the way I wanted my time to end with the club.

“The 170-mile-round-trip of travelling, in the end, has taken its toll and things outside of football have to take priority.”

As he penned his departing message, he reminisced of some of his best moments in a Cofis shirt.

In his first season with the Canaries, he fired them to the league title, scoring 28 goals. 

Despite the club remaining in the division after failing to secure a licence, Breese remained and scored 43 goals in two further seasons in North Wales’ top division. 

“There are so many good memories I can take away from winning the league twice and also the two games against Bangor is something I’ll never forget,” said Breese.

“I’ve made some great friends throughout the club in teammates, coaching staff, board members and even supporters.”

Breese also put praise onto the supporters of Caernarfon Town who had penned a chant for their number nine, singing it on the terraces up and down the country.

“Cofi Army, where do I start with you lot… You have been an unbelievable part of my time at the club.

“Your passion for the club is something else and having my own song sung is something I’ll never forget. It’s something I will really miss.

“The commitment and atmosphere you lot bring to every match home or away is something else.

“Lastly, just a thank you from me to everyone connected with the club for everything over the past five years and I hope to catch up with you all soon.”
