Bala Town have confirmed the signing of defender Nathan Peate, who has joined the club from north Walian rivals Cefn Druids.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Ancients from Llandudno in 2017, arrives at Maes Tegid a day after the Lakesiders announced that long-serving defender Stuart Jones is to leave the club after nine years.

Peate’s performances in recent seasons have seen him selected to play for the Wales C team, and he was due to play a role against England C in March, before the game was postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Commenting on Peate’s arrival, Colin Caton, the Bala Town manager, said: “Nathan has established himself as a very good centre half over the last few years at Cefn Druids.

“I’ve been a big admirer of him for a long time and it’s great to get him over the line and bring him on board with us.”

The Wrexham man has also played for the likes of Gresford Athletic, Flint Town United and Denbigh Town.

Peate has experience of playing in European competition with the Ancients, and was part of the team that won the Europa League play-off final against Cardiff Metropolitan in the 2017-18 season.

Caton added: “I’m really looking forward to working with him, he’s a top lad and he’s going to add a lot to the squad. His aerial presence is exceptional. Welcome to the Club Nathan.
