Aberystwyth Town: Sam Barnes and Harri Rowe join Allen’s local revolution

Aberystwyth Town have signed Harri Rowe and Sam Barnes in preparation for next season.

Sam Barnes joins from Widnes whilst Harri Rowe rejoins from Haverfordwest County.

Barnes, 28, has experience of the Cymru Leagues with Bangor City and Newtown, with 25 appearances made for the Robins in the Cymru Premier.

The defender told the club website, “I am really excited to join Aberystwyth. I came close to joining in January, so I’m glad to get it over the line and try to help the club reach the top six.

“With the squad being built by the Management, we have every chance”.

Joining Barnes in Aber’s backline is Harri Rowe who returns after 18-months away from Park Avenue.

“I am delighted to be rejoining my hometown club,” admitted Rowe.

I had a great experience going away and playing at Haverfordwest, and now I can’t wait to be back at Park Avenue in an Aber shirt playing in the Cymru Premier.”

Coupled with the signings of Barnes and Rowe, Aber have retained the services of Lee Jenkins.

Commenting on his new deal with Aber, Jenkins said: “It’s great to be able to play with my local Club in the Cymru Prem for another season.

“I can’t wait to get going again and to meet the new squad that’s being built. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead this season and help achieve our target of Top Six.”

Under the guidance of the newly-appointed first-team manager Gavin Allen, the Seasiders have made three other additions to their squad ahead of the 2020-2021 season.

Attacker Owain Jones joined the club from Merthyr Town, while left-back Rhys Davies has also signed for Aberystwyth from Hereford.
