Five new recruits for Conwy as Matthew Jones puts down stamp on squad

Conwy Borough have made five new signings ahead of the new season.

Manager Matthew Jones has signed five players who have all had prior of experience of working with him.

Gerwyn Jones, James Bell, Meilir Williams, Rory Crowther and Tommy Creamer have all joined the Tangerines for the upcoming JD Cymru North campaign.

Rhyl duo Rory Crowther and Tommy Creamer join the Conwy based side following the liquidation of the Lilywhites.

Creamer won a Player of the Month award for Rhyl last season and returns to Y More with Gerwyn Jones.

Following Creamer to Conwy from Rhyl is Rory Crowther, who moves after a number of seasons at Cymru North level.

Previously working with manager Matthew Jones at Rhyl, the manager commented on the arrival of Crowther: “I’m delighted to be bringing a player of Rory’s quality to the club,” stated the former Denbigh Town boss.

“Having worked with him before, I know exactly what kind of quality we are getting both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

“Rory is exactly the kind of player we want to be bringing to the club to add to what is already a very settled and strong squad of players.”

Gerwyn Jones is following in the footsteps of Tom Creamer, as another returnee Conwy after working with his new boss at Llandudno.

Also reuniting with manager Matthew Jones following their days at Bala U19s is Meilir Williams.

Williams makes the step up from the Welsh Alliance League where he scored 15 league goals for Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The prolific forward later moved on to Penrhyndeudraeth before returning to Blaenau Ffestiniog, where he was a popular player.

Commenting on his arrival, Williams said: “I’m really happy to be joining a very good squad of players at Conwy.

“They did very well in the league last season so I hope I can add something from my game to the team.

“I am looking forward to working with the coaches and try to prove myself in the Cymru North.

“Hopefully, we can get back out on the pitch as soon as it is safe to do so.”

Continuing the theme of reuniting, James Belle is moving on from Nantlle Vale to work with Mathew Jones.

The Welsh Alliance League winner is following a number of players to Conwy and tops off a busy first month of recruitment for the newly-appointed boss.
