Neal Eardley: Former Wales international defender to leave Lincoln City at end of campaign
Former Wales international full-back Neal Eardley will leave League One side Lincoln City this summer.
Eardley, the brother of Sean Eardley, who was recently announced as the new manager of Llandudno, will leave the club after spending three years at the Sincil Bank Stadium.
The 31-year-old joined Lincoln in 2017 and went onto make 122 appearances, scoring three times following his switch from Northampton Town.
The Welshman was named player of the season during Lincoln’s 2017/2018 campaign.
After being released by the Imps, Eardley said to Lincolnshire Live: “I think I have never been a player to expect anything whether that is a contract, playing on a Saturday or whatever it is.
“I must be honest and say I thought I had done well enough to at least be offered something but that wasn’t the case.
“There are no hard feelings whatsoever. I have said the same thing to everyone that I am gutted with how it has panned out in terms of the pandemic.
“Things could have been a lot different had it not have happened, but I suppose hindsight is a wonderful thing and who knows what would have happened.”
The former Blackpool full-back made 16 appearances for Wales between 2007 and 2011.
He will now be seeking a new club this summer after Lincoln City confirmed the defender was one of 11 players which weren’t included on their retained list.
