Seven clubs granted Tier Three Certificate on appeal

The Football Association of Wales today granted Tier Three Certificates to a further seven teams after being successful on appeal.

Abertillery Bluebirds, Bangor 1876, Panteg, Penmaenmawr Phoenix, Rhos Aelwyd, Saltney Town and Ynyshir Albions all received the news that they received the certification to play in the FAW’s new regional leagues.

As part of the certification, Panteg will move to Ty Isaf Park whilst Ynyshir Albions will play their home games at Dinas Park

Pencoed Athletic were the only club unsuccessful in their appeal whilst seven clubs opted not to appeal the initial decision. 

The successful appeals means that 84 clubs have now been given the certificate, however there is only 64 places in the four divisions.  

Five of the six clubs who were rejected and oped not to appeal now face a demotion from the Welsh pyramid structure.

Aberaeron finished ninth in the Mid Wales League last season after the season was curtailed. 

Three clubs from the Welsh Alliance League Division One also face a drop down to the fourth level of Welsh football.

Bodedern Athletic, Greenfield and Mynydd Llandegai were all refused the certificate.

FC Queens Park of the Wrexham League also face a demotion, having been unsuccessful in their application.

Lex XI, who play in the division below Queens Park face no demotion but will not be in contention of competing in the new leagues.
