Bridgend Street have been relegated from the Welsh League after not securing the Tier Three Certificate.
It is likely to see Nathan Cadette’s side placed in the South Wales Alliance League, despite an 8th placed finish this season.
The Cardiff club were one of two Welsh League teams who didn’t apply for the Tier Three Certificate.
They didn’t appear in the FAW’s list of applicants in January and were absent in the list of clubs who received the certificate.
Commenting on their demotion, the club said: “
“Bridgend Street will compete in The South Wales Alliance Premier Division for season 2020/21.
“It’s disappointing that the club won’t continue in the third tier of Welsh football in the coming season but we wish the very best of luck to all Tier three clubs and to the newly promoted teams and hope to be competing with them again very soon.
“With the Welsh League now disbanded, the Football Association of Wales will take over the day to day running of re-branded leagues.
“Though regrettably an administrative error has prevented us from retaining our tier three status at Friday’s FAW National Game Board meeting.
“It will however mean that we will face a few highly anticipated full blooded Cardiff derbies in the battle to bounce back and plenty of fresh challenges ahead.
“We look forward to the resumption of competitive football when the governing bodies deem it safe to kick off after the lengthy interruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.”
The Mission had been in the third tier for the last two seasons but now face a demotion as part of the FAW’s reshuffling of the leagues.
Prior to their promotion to the Welsh League in 2011, Bridgend Street had been mainstays of the South Wales Senior League, joining as founding members in 1994.
Albion Rovers, the only other Welsh League side not to apply for the certificate, finished bottom of Division Two.
However, due to the realignment of the pyramid structure, they will not be demoted and instead be a part of the Gwent Premier Division.
