Wales duo sign new deals with Women’s Super League side Reading
Wales midfielder Natasha Harding and defender Lily Woodham have signed new deals with Reading.
Harding, who was handed the Royals’ captaincy by manager Kelly Chambers last summer, has extended her stay with the Women’s Super League club after joining from Liverpool in 2018.
The 82-capped winger helped the Royals on their way to a fifth-placed finish in the WSL last season before the season was curtailed owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Tash was an important player for me to keep, not just because she is my captain but for what she brings to the group both on and off the pitch,” said Reading boss Chambers.
“Tash very much understands where I want to take this team and is fully on board to help to try and achieve that. She has been a part of the squad for a few years now and has really become part of the family.
“There is still so much more to come from her and I can’t wait to see that come out.”
Defender Lily Woodham has also penned a new deal after spending time on loan with FA Women’s Championship side Charlton in a bid to secure more game-time last season.
Woodham, 19, was handed her first professional contract with the Royals following her move from Bristol City in 2018, and Chambers feels she can enjoy a successful career in the women’s top-flight.
“I’m so glad that Lily decided to stay at the club,” said Chambers.
“Lily is an exciting young prospect who has all the attributes to play in this league.
“After a loan spell last season, this season is Lily’s time to step up and be an important part of the team. I can’t wait to see what more we can get from her and watch her develop and grow.”
