Wales snapped a twelve-game winless run on Tuesday as they defeated Switzerland 3-2 in the Spanish city of Jerez.
Sophie Ingle’s opener was cancelled out by Aurélie Csillag, but goals either side of the interval from Hannah Cain and Lily Woodham ensured Wales had a comfortable lead for large parts of the second half.
Iman Beney did pull one back towards the end of the game, but Wales held on to claim their only victory of 2025.
Here’s how we rate the Wales players who played in the Spanish city of Jerez.
WALES PLAYER RATINGS VS. SWITZERLAND
Safia Middleton-Patel: 5/10
We know that, as a ball-playing goalkeeper, Middleton-Patel is very good, but today wasn’t her best day. Should have done better with the Swiss opener, and then with the second goal she just plays a little too heavily to Angharad James. That number one spot still feels very up in the air.
Gemma Evans: 7/10
Really good from Evans today. Was not afraid to lunge into tackles and win the ball back at any opportunity. Played a really good ball from deep as well to setup the first goal. A good mentor for Mia Ross as well in the backline.
Hayley Ladd: 7/10
What I liked about Ladd’s performance today is the fact she was given more of a freedom to drive into midfield and play as that defensive midfielder. She did drop back and form a three, but having that floating role suited her well.
Mia Ross: 8/10
Brilliant performance today. Her awareness on that first goal to go back when nothing was on was crucial. Didn’t look out of place defensively and it’s great to have another player who’s comfortable with the ball at her feet in the back line.
Ceri Holland: 9/10
On the occasion of her 50th cap, Holland showcased all her attributes. From her forward drive to her pinpoint passing to her flair to her defensive prowess. We’ve said it for a while now, but it’s difficult to imagine a Wales team without Holland in it. She is that crucial to this whole project. Subbed off 60th minute.
Wales end winless run with hard-fought victory over Switzerland
Angharad James: 6/10

With this more advanced role that Ingle has, James is the ideal player to have alongside her to keep things ticking over and sweep up in the middle of the park. Can’t get away from the mistake that led to Switzerland’s second goal, but had excellent game awareness towards full time.
Sophie Ingle: 9/10
This advanced role Ingle has found herself during this camp is doing wonders for Wales. Yes, she can hold her position and still do all the things we know Ingle can do, but going forward she adds something different to Wales. Another well taken goal and she’s probably the star coming out of the final camp of the year. Subbed off 76th minute.
Ffion Morgan: 6/10
Can definitely see that Morgan is adapting really well in that wing back spot. What was pleasing to see in that first half was the fact that Morgan wasn’t afraid to use her speed, and that allowed Wales to counter effectively. A good 50th cap for the Hammer. Subbed off at half time.
Carrie Jones: 7/10
Jones is so industrious. We said this on Friday night after the game against South Korea, but physically, Jones’ move to Sweden has improved her so much. You can see how playing every week is making her such an important player for Rhian Wilkinson. Subbed off at half time.
Hannah Cain: 9/10
Tremendous game from Cain. When you’re an isolated striker against a nation as good as Switzerland it can be difficult, but not for Cain. She was dragging the defence in every direction, and that goal? Superb. Excellent assist too. Just a striker who can do a bit of everything. Subbed off 61st minute.
Rachel Rowe: 6/10
Rowe made a number of good runs and you can tell that she wanted to be involved in every move Wales made when going forward, but her performance left me wanting more. We know she can do anything and everything, and she has been brilliant for Wales recently, but I felt like Rowe could have done more. Subbed off 76th minute.
104th minute equaliser ensures a point for Cardiff City in the Adran Premier
Lily Woodham: 7/10

Subbed on at half time. Woodham was the dictionary definition of “impact player” today. Scoring with her very first touch was the perfect way to start off her game, and she really help to push Wales forward in the closing stages.
Laura Huhges: 6/10
Subbed on at half time. A good debut for Hughes! Picked up some positions further forward and certainly wanted to progress the ball forward at any chance possible. Get the vibe that she will be an key player in this upcoming World Cup qualifying campaign.
Esther Morgan: 7/10
Subbed on 60th minute. Very good cameo from Morgan. A different kind of wing back to Holland, but what she added was a sense of solidity and calmness, especially when Wales were on the back foot in the latter stages of the second half.
Elise Hughes: 6/10
Subbed on 61st minute. Hughes was introduced at the right time and she did what was asked from her. Hold the ball up and try and bring others into the attack. Would like to see her in and around the six-yard box more though.
Rhiannon Roberts: N/A
Subbed on 76th minute. Wasn’t on the field long enough to make an impact but helped to see out the win.
Mared Griffiths: N/A
Subbed on 76th minute. Wasn’t on the field long enough to make an impact, but such a confident player who wants to attack at will.
Rhian Wilkinson: 8/10
Can’t fault Wilkinson for much at all! Picked the right eleven, brought on the right players at the right time, and the tactics were spot on. Really pleased for her and her management team because this run of not winning will have surely affected them.
