Mark Hughes and Nigel Adkins listed by bookmakers for Watford job

Former Wales boss Mark Hughes has been listed as a candidate by bookmakers for the vacancy at Watford.

The Hertfordshire club are on the search for a new manager after parting company with Nigel Pearson.

Under-23s coach Hayden Mullins will oversee their final two fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester City before the club finds a successor.

They currently sit outside relegation zone by three points but can still be mathematically caught by Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

Former Southampton manager Claude Puel is the favourite at the moment, but at tenth favourite is former Welsh national team manager Mark Hughes.

Hughes has been out of work since December 2018 after leaving Southampton.

Also included on the list is former Bangor City manager Nigel Adkins.

At further odds of 25/1 by BetVictor, bookmakers feel it is unlikely the former physio will take up the vacancy with the Hornets.

At the same odds as Adkins, ex Bala-Town defender David Artell is listed as a candidate.

Artell spent two seasons in the Cymru Premier with the Lakesiders and Port Talbot Town.

Since winding down his playing career, Artell took charge of Crewe Alexandra and led them to promotion to League One this season after a second-place finish.

Another former Wales international manger Chris Coleman is found further on down the list.

Mike Flynn who had a stint as Undy boss has also been placed, following his success with Newport County.

Tony Pulis is another option at the same odds as Adkins, Artell, Coleman and Flynn.
