Wales forward Emma Jones has extended her stay with Women’s Championship club Lewes.

The 25-year-old has signed a new contract with the Rookettes after joining the second tier outfit from Southern Premier Division side Cardiff City Ladies last summer.

She helped Simon Parker’s side avoid relegation from the Championship last season, finishing three places above the drop zone before the final league standings were determined on a points-per-game basis due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jones, who qualifies to play for Wales through her Cwmbran-born grandparents, has made three appearances on the international stage.

She was named in Jayne Ludlow’s squad for Wales’ friendly against Italy in January last year, making her debut in a 2-0 defeat against the Azzurri.

The forward, who also has previous experience of playing in the Champions League with Swedish club Linkopings, could feature for Ludlow’s side when they return to Euro 2021 qualifying action in September.

Wales travel to group leaders Norway on 22 September before welcoming the Norwegians and Faroe Islands – the team Jones scored her first international goal against – in a home double-header in October.
