Fleetwood Town have extended the contract of former Barry Town defender Macauley Southam-Hales.
Having announced their retained list, the Fishermen have exercised an option in the Welshman’s contract of a further twelve months.
Cardiff-born Southam-Hales signed for Fleetwood Town in January 2019 from Cymru Premier club Barry Town.
Upon his arrival, manager Joey Barton told FleetwoodTownFC.com, “Our scouts have watched Macaulay for a while now and after impressing during a trial period at the club we are delighted to bring him in.
“He’s an exciting young player who we are pleased to have with us at Fleetwood Town. He’s enjoyed a good first half of the season in Wales, and the challenge now for him to step up to League One level.
“We look forward to working with him every day and see him develop with us at the club.”
Since his move to Fleetwood Town, Southam-Hales has featured twice and was allowed to go out on loan to National League club Hartlepool United in January.
The Welsh defender made seven appearances for the Pools as they finished twelfth under new manager Dave Challinor.
