Caerphilly Athleic appoint Ian Butterworth as manager

Caerphilly Athletic have appointed Ian Butterworth as their new first-team manager.

Butterworth is succeeding Luke Ganderton who stood down from his role after 11 seasons.

He is a former captain of the South Wales Alliance League club and has been at the club for nine years.

Commenting on the appointment, the club said: “Over the past few weeks we’ve been looking at a new manager and who can take this club to the next level.

“The committee members can see the massive potential within the club and we want to carry on pushing up the leagues from what Luke and the lads started 10 years ago.

“With a number of people interested in the role, some come across really well but no one came across with the same ambition as whom we’ve selected to take this team on.”

“With all that said we are happy to announce that Ian Butterworth is the new Caerphilly Athletic Manager.”

Butterworth’s first task will be rejuvenate a side which was relegated from the Premier Division of the South Wales Alliance League after finishing fourth from bottom.
