Permission granted for Monmouth Town to build new stand

Monmouth Town have been granted permission to erect a new stand at their home ground.

After letters of support in their application, Monmouth can now push ahead with improving their Monmouth Sportsgrounds home with a 250-seater stand, hardstanding path and dugouts on the opposite side.

The Momouthsire County Council approved the decision on Friday, 31 July.

In the report, it reads: “Without this facility the football club will face automatic demotion and will be unable to participate at the same level of competition until it can provide such facilities.

As it stands, The Kingfishers will play their Ardal Southern East 2020/21 games at Goytre’s Plough Road in line with FAW requirements.

To attain certification for the Ardal Leagues, clubs in the third tier require a 100-seater stand and other elements of club infrastructure.

A 250-seater stand would benefit Monmouth Town for any promotion ambitions to the Cymru South.
