Welsh defender Neal Eardley has joined League One outfit Burton Albion.

Eardley has put pen-to-paper to a one-year deal at the Pirelli Stadium.

The 31-year-old is joining his eighth club after leaving Lincoln City following three seasons at Sincil Bank.

During Eardley’s time with Lincoln, he made 140 appearances, helping them to the EFL Trophy and the League Two title.

Eardley’s last appearance for Wales was a 3-1 defeat to Scotland in May 2011.

Commenting on his move to the Brewers, Eardley said: “I’ve had a few conversations with the manager (Jake Buxton) and he’s a really good guy. I can’t wait to get going and help to build something really positive at the football club.”

“I think it’s good to have those strings to your bow, and from speaking to the manager, I think it suits in case he ever wants to flip formations and do things differently. I’d like to think I’m a player who can do that.”

Manager Jake Buxton was happy to secure one of his top targets: “We wanted to get the deal sorted as soon as we possibly could, as we knew that there was interest from elsewhere in Neal.

“I’m delighted that everything’s now been finalised and that he’s a Burton Albion player.”
